Being human

An unconventional view

Being human is a complex blend of physical, emotional, intellectual and social aspects that define our existence.

My name is Devaki, I’ve always known I was different so being diagnosed with autism helped me understand myself better, and why I see the world the way I do. I am a writer-philosopher, singer-songwriter, recluse, minimalist, and vegan with a background in nursing, alternative therapies, personal training, gym manager, self discovery-awareness and life mentoring.

Being human allows us the ability to love, suffer, grow and strive for purpose and meaning in life. It allows us the capacity for self awareness, and the ability to connect with others individually and collectively. Life is about what we came here to learn, experience, and understand. The details of how we go about something aren't as important as the choices we make and the attitudes while making those decisions.

We live in a toxic culture that has created a narcissistic society that feels entitled to get what they want without caring about the suffering it creates for others. We need to embrace a world that is ruled by compassion and kindness, and one that doesn’t enable those who intentionally harm others out of selfishness and greed.

As a result, many have disconnected from their true selves and are choosing the prescription of a toxic society. True fulfilment in life does not require the presence of others and why regular time in solitude is needed for self discovery and awareness. In solitude, we hear the truth inside where the noise of the world fades, and we no longer hide. We let go of the mask, and open to the wisdom in the stillness, where the soul can guide.

This website is about helping people from all walks of life understand themselves so they can live meaningful lives as decent human beings. My intention isn’t for you to adopt my beliefs, but rather for you to keep an open mind for a moment. It might offer a new perspective on yourself and the world around you.
