Cause and effect

!

This article offers a concise understanding of cause and effect.

It can be helpful to accept and face our karma, as we may come into each life with unfinished lessons. The soul returns to learn what may not yet have been understood, giving each life the opportunity to grow, experience, and evolve. What we experience in this life may only be one chapter in a longer journey.

Karma can be understood as the law of cause and effect. Our actions, words, and thoughts contribute to what we go through in life. In this way, balance is maintained through the relationship between cause and outcome.

Many people look at karma from a personal point of view. When someone says karma will get the person who wronged them, they may not realise that each person is responsible for what they create through their own actions. Every cause leads to an effect, and we do not decide what another person experiences based on our own perspective.

Karma and reincarnation are closely connected within this understanding. One lifetime may not be enough for the soul to learn, grow, and go through all the experiences linked to its past actions. For this reason, reincarnation is often seen as part of the process of understanding karma.

Karma can also include what is destined and what is permitted. Some experiences are part of what we go through in life, while others are allowed within the conditions created by past causes. There are also experiences that do not happen because the conditions are not in place. While not everything can be changed, how we respond in the present is always within our awareness and choice.

There are different ways to describe karma, including personal, family, group, and broader influences. Rather than seeing karma as punishment, it can be understood as a process that supports growth and awareness. Through what we go through, we begin to understand ourselves more clearly.

One way to move forward is by becoming more aware of the causes we set in motion. By paying attention to our thoughts, words, and actions, and choosing not to cause harm where possible, we begin to influence what we experience in a more constructive way.

Responsibility

Many believe they don't need to act because karma will take care of it. There are times when patience matters but it is still important to use awareness and take responsibility where action is needed.

Karma does not always mean doing nothing. Life often requires us to participate, respond, and take part in what is happening. What we experience can reflect our own responsibility, which means there are times when we must act rather than wait. Otherwise, patterns may continue to repeat.

Choosing to do what is right may not always lead to immediate or favourable outcomes. This does not mean the action was wrong. In some cases, we may need to go through certain experiences that help balance earlier causes, even when our present actions are aligned with truth.

Positive actions are not removed by past actions, and past actions are not erased by good deeds. Each action carries its own outcome and lesson. Growth comes from understanding both, rather than expecting one to cancel the other.

Fairness

Many people question fairness in life and quickly judge situations as unfair. However, fairness is often understood differently depending on awareness and perspective.

Each person is influenced by different circumstances, choices, and interactions with others. What may seem unfair from one point of view may be part of a wider process shaped by cause and effect.

From this perspective, what we go through can be connected to our own actions and the conditions we have contributed to over time. Even when situations do not feel fair, they may still play a role in helping us learn and understand more deeply.

Luck

Life can be seen as a journey where our choices and actions shape what we experience. From this perspective, what is called luck may be the result of cause and effect rather than random chance.

No two people have the same path, which means that similar actions can still lead to different outcomes depending on past conditions. This helps explain why results can vary in ways that may seem unexpected.

While some events may feel outside of our control, how we respond to them is always within our awareness. These moments can provide opportunities to grow, adapt, and learn. The present moment is where change becomes possible through the choices we make.

Justice

Justice can appear differently depending on perspective. What one person sees as justice may not match another person’s view, as it is not always shaped by personal expectations.

Within cause and effect, what we go through is connected to actions and conditions, even if we do not see the full picture. Because of this, it is not always possible to fully understand the reasons behind every situation.

When we look at the suffering of others, we have an opportunity to learn compassion. However, what we don’t know, is what that person came to learn, experience and understand for their growth.

When we look at what others go through, it can help us develop understanding and compassion. At the same time, we do not always know the full context of what someone else is here to learn or experience.

Without awareness, patterns can continue to repeat. Recognising these patterns is an important step toward creating different outcomes. As awareness grows, clarity increases. This allows us to make more conscious choices and better understand how our actions influence what we experience over time.

True legacy is karma

From the perspective of cause and effect, the legacy we leave behind is shaped by the actions we take throughout our lives.

These actions contribute not only to our own experiences but also to the wider world over time. Rather than focusing on how we are remembered, legacy can be understood as the effect of what we set in motion. These effects may continue beyond our lifetime and become part of a larger process of cause and effect.

Many people place importance on being remembered in certain ways, but a more grounded approach is to focus on how we live in the present. Living with purpose and awareness naturally shapes what we leave behind.

True legacy does not depend on attachment to recognition or validation. It is reflected in the quality of our actions and the intention behind them. What we contribute becomes part of a wider flow, where its effects continue in ways that may not always be visible.
